Henry Stanton of Greenville, South Carolina (SC) hopped into his 1989 Ford sedan with a passenger, both ready to hit the road for an afternoon drive. Mr. Stanton stepped on the accelerator and the trip transformed into turmoil. The accelerator got stuck and the car smashed into a tree, according to wspa.com.

Both Mr. Stanton and his passenger were seriously injured. Mr. Stanton’s injuries are especially serious and he was airlifted to the Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Toyota recently issued a major recall due to its floor mats causing their accelerators to get stuck, and Ford recalled their 2002 Ford Escape model due to an accelerator issue. However, there hasn’t been a recall for a 1989 Ford sedan model.

As an injury lawyer who has represented people hurt due to mechanical errors, Mr. Stanton appears to have a case against Ford for this accelerator defect. Though, an examination of the vehicle and a report of what exactly happened should be conducted.
