Six people were rushed to the hospital after a three-car crash occurred at the entrance of Isabel Holmes Bridge in New Hanover County, NC. According to Trooper J.C. Horniak from the NC Highway Patrol, said the crash happened at around 2:40 p.m. A man driving a white Dodge Caravan on U.S. 421 ran a red light and crashed into a Nissan SUV turning at the entrance of Isabel Holmes Bridge. The impact of the crash caused the SUV to roll over and hit a blue Chevrolet Impala that was coming off the bridge at that very moment.

Trooper Horniak with the N.C. State Highway Patrol mentioned that it was too soon to know the seriousness of the damage; however, two ambulances stayed at the scene for a longer than usual period of time. Two elderly people from the SUV were taken immediately to the hospital, and so were the four people that were in the Impala. The driver of the Dodge appears to be the blame as he recklessly ran the red light causing this tragic sequence of events sending six to the hospital.

As a personal injury attorney we see lots of wrecks and hear about a variety of injurious that are too many to mention here. It should be noted that in a past scientific study using British and American crash reports it was found that 57% of crashes were due solely from driver error, 27% from a combination of road and driver factors, 6% to combined vehicle and driver error, 3% just from to road factors, 3% to combined roadway, driver, and vehicle factors, 2% solely to vehicle factors and 1% to combined roadway and vehicle factors. Drivers should be responsible enough to follow traffic rules as this would lessen road accidents.
